Two extraordinary vocalists—each of them already a popular Jazz at Lincoln Center headliner—share The Appel Room stage in this Singers Over Manhattan season finale. Audiences will enjoy one of the most famous views in the city while Mary Stallings, Veronica Swift, and Freddy Cole sing their hearts out alongside Emmet Cohen’s piano trio, featuring Russell Hall and Kyle Poole.
“Perhaps the best jazz singer singing today,” according to The New York Times, Mary Stallings has performed with the likes of Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Geri Allen, and Harry “Sweets” Edison. Freddy Cole, too, has spent a lifetime mastering his art and is now easily one of the all-time greatest crooners. Special guest tenor saxophonist Houston Person will also take the stage for a few tunes.
This Singers Over Manhattan special is a true multigenrational showcase, bringing two veteran jazz vocalists together with a trio of young, first-rate instrumentalists.
