Tenor saxophonist and flutist Lew Tabackin leads Tenor Legacy, a swinging tribute to the great tenor sax masters who shaped his sound and the history of jazz. Tabackin and his ensemble revisit classic tunes and hallmark styles, channeling Coleman Hawkins’ muscular swing, Lester Young’s airy lyricism, and John Coltrane’s intensity. Expect hard-driving tenor solos, deep grooves, and an evening that both celebrates the lineage of the tenor saxophone and showcases one of its modern standard-bearers at full power.
