Description

Bassist and composer Carlos Henriquez is a defining voice in Latin jazz and contemporary jazz, known for his commanding musicianship and deep connection to the cultural traditions of New York City. A long-standing member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Henriquez has collaborated with many of the music’s greatest figures while leading his own acclaimed projects, including the Grammy-recognized The South Bronx Story and his most recent album, A Nuyorican Tale. For this special performance as part of the Legacies of San Juan Hill Festival, he leads his award-winning nonet in a program that draws on the vibrant rhythms of African drum traditions, the spirit of the Bronx, and the layered musical heritage of the San Juan Hill neighborhood.
