Name
Jazztopad Festival: Immanuel Wilkins with Lutoslawski Quartet - World Premiere
Description
For over two decades, Poland’s Jazztopad Festival has commissioned bold new works from some of the biggest names in jazz, including Wayne Shorter, Charles Lloyd, Jason Moran, Vijay Iyer, and Terence Blanchard. Known for adventurous programming and global collaborations, the festival now brings its visionary spirit to the U.S., offering a rare glimpse into the vibrant Polish jazz scene. This special edition features Ethnic Cleansing — An American Tradition, a powerful new composition dedicated to those facing forced displacement, from Palestine to the U.S. Inspired by Sandi Hilal’s concept of “al masha” and the struggle for land and identity, the piece explores themes of survival and shifting voices, both musically and socially.
Presented by the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw, in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
