ABOUT THE CONCERT
Bandolim virtuoso Hamilton De Holanda joins the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and music director Carlos Henriquez for a vibrant celebration of Brazilian jazz in Rose Theater. The program brings the iconic music of Moacir Santos, the pioneering composer who helped shape Brazil’s modern sound, to life alongside Holanda’s own electrifying new works, creating a night pulsing with rhythm, color, and joyful energy.
On Saturday, June 13, the experience begins even earlier with a complimentary World Cup watch party in the Ertegun Atrium, where the Morocco vs. Brazil match will be screened live beginning at 6:00 p.m. The excitement of the match flows seamlessly into that evening’s 8:00 p.m. performance, making the night feel like a full celebration of Brazilian culture, community, and sound.
Fresh off his 2025 Latin Grammy win for Best Latin Jazz Album for Live In NYC, recorded at Dizzy’s Club, Holanda brings a dynamic creative spark to the stage. His command of the 10-string bandolin, dazzling improvisation, and natural chemistry with the orchestra ignite every moment, carrying audiences through a sweeping journey across Brazil’s rhythmic landscape with extraordinary energy and virtuosity.
