Launching the first of our “Salsa Meets Jazz” bi-monthly series, co-curators and hosts Carlos Henriquez, JLCO's esteemed bassist and Grammy-nominee, and master conguero Bobby Allende, present a vibrant all-star salsa ensemble. Joining them is jazz flautist and alto saxophonist Alexa Tarantino, adding a dynamic edge to the evening. Inspired by the legendary “Salsa Meets Jazz” series at NYC’s Village Gate, where salsa icons like Tito Puente would jam with jazz luminaries such as Branford Marsalis and Randy Brecker, this inaugural event will honor the legendary conguero Ray Baretto. Immerse yourself in a night where salsa rhythms and jazz improvisation come together in a celebration of musical fusion and heritage.
