An initiative of the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Armstrong Now unites world class artists to create new works inspired by museum archives. For this two-part performance, pianist and composer Luther Allison presents his inspired arrangements of Armstrong’s repertoire followed by original compositions that capture the spirit of Pops: blues, spontaneity, and swing. Part 1 spotlights Allison’s quartet and features special guests Catherine Russell, Bruce Harris, C. Anthony Bryant, Riley Mulherkar, and Ekep Nkwelle; part 2 spotlights Allison’s acclaimed septet.
