Dizzy’s Club welcomes South Korea-born bassist and composer Jeong Lim Yang, performing music from Zodiac Suite: Reassured (2022, Fresh Sound), her latest release combining radical improvisation with traditional idiom which pays homage to Mary Lou Williams’ classic 1945 recording. Yang’s sets feature distinctive treatment from her brilliant trio-mates, Argentinean pianist Santiago Leibson and renowned New York-based drummer Tom Rainey. Expect an evening of open-ended expression inspired by one of the most influential records to emerge from the bebop era.
