ABOUT THE CONCERT

Close out the season with a high-energy celebration led by Wynton Marsalis and performed by the powerhouse Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Known for turning the traditional big band into a bold, globally inspired ensemble, the JLCO delivers an evening of swing, soul, and surprise that reflects the full scope of their artistry.

Curated by Marsalis, this season finale features a handpicked mix of audience favorites and standout originals by longtime Orchestra members Chris CrenshawVincent GardnerCarlos HenriquezSherman IrbyTed NashDan Nimmer, and Marcus Printup. More than a concert, it's a joyful sendoff to summer that showcases one of the most electrifying ensembles in jazz today.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • The JLCO with Wynton Marsalis, who serves as music director  
  • A program presenting acclaimed works and arrangements from key members of the JLCO through the years 
  • Performances by Jazz Houston Youth Orchestra (6/13) and Jazz Academy Big Band (6/14) in the Ertegun Atrium, before the show and during intermission
  • Swing by at 6:30pm before each performance to enhance your Jazz at Lincoln Center experience by attending the evening’s pre-concert discussion, led by one of our distinguished scholars. Seating is based on a first-come, first-served basis, and the discussion takes place in the Agnes Varis and Karl Leichtman Studio at Frederick P. Rose Hall.
