ABOUT THE CONCERT
What are the roots of America’s greatest art form? Jazz Americana offers an answer. In this Rose Theater performance, the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis leads audiences through the music’s earliest era, integrating elements of blues, gospel, country, and bluegrass and featuring new arrangements, by members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, of traditional roots music. The JLCO will be joined by very special guests pianist Terry Waldo, fiddlers Mark O'Connor and Maggie O'Connor, vocalist Shenel Johns and banjo player/guitarist Gavin Rice, and the evening will include premieres of new compositions by Dr. Michael White and Terry Waldo.
