The MSU Jazz Ensemble has a thrilling evening in store for listeners of all ages! This irrepressible outfit returns to Dizzy’s Club alongside special guest, vibraphonist and composer Steve Nelson and Vocamotion, MSU’s resident vocal quartet. Exploring new and classic arrangements, the ensemble shares contributions from the music’s most compelling band leaders, including enduring legends Thad Jones, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie, as well as contemporary masters Maria Schneider, Alan Ferber, and Rob McConnell. Under the direction of Dr. Oscar Perez, this high-octane ensemble, featuring young artists primarily enrolled in the MSU Jazz Studies program, engages listeners of all ages with swinging repertoire, lush arrangements, and driving vitality.
