One of the most influential trumpet players of his generation, Mike Rodriguez has enjoyed storied associations with master artists, including Chick Corea, Kenny Barron, Chico O’Farrill, and Charlie Haden. For this Dizzy’s Club event, the NYYS Jazz Ensemble explores a range of styles showcasing Rodriguez’s abilities as one of today’s leading voices as an instrumentalist and composer, as well as the many evolving pathways through a tradition of harmony, syncopation, and virtuosity.
