Description
Drummer, musicologist, and scholar Marcus Grant brings his acclaimed concert honoring the music and impact of Nina Simone and Abbey Lincoln to Dizzy’s Club. Paying direct homage to their artistic output between 1960 and 1967, How It Feels to be Free features selections from We Insist!: The Freedom Now Suite, Silk & Soul, and Nina Simone: In Concert. This event celebrates these two resonant voices, including how outspoken they became on issues of anti-Black racism, politics, gender, class, and Black-transnational unity across the diaspora.
