The alto saxophonist, flutist, and composer served for years as music director of the Mingus Big Band, earning Grammy recognition for his work with that project as well as Joe Lovano’s nonet. Featuring Scott Wendholt, Lawrence Fields, Ugonna Okegwo, and Jason Tiemann, this one-night event presents dynamic interpretations of music from Slagle’s recent releases for Panorama Records, including Alive in Harlem, Nascentia, and Into the Heart of It.
