Juilliard Jazz explores the musical world of composer and multi-instrumentalist Ornette Coleman whose seminal and exploratory innovations inspired boundless creative output among his peers and continue to influence every new generation of improvisers.?He crafted his own syntax that draws from a range of styles including the blues, folk music, and bebop. For this evening’s performance, students interpret Coleman’s music from the 1950s through his final album issued in 2009.
